Settle your quarrels, come together, understand the reality of our situation, understand that fascism is already here, that people are already dying who could be saved, that generations more will live poor butchered half-lives if you fail to act. Do what must be done, discover your humanity and your love in revolution.

I can remember less than a year ago the public sentiment that a vote for Biden was “a vote against fascism”; I can remember people dancing in the streets celebrating Trump’s defeat; how the “soul of the country had been restored.” I also remember warning people…

As the voting populace prepares for the upcoming recall election throughout the land known as the state of California, the unhoused are feeling the full weight of this current political theater between the red and blue wings of amerikkan fascism. In Nisenan Land, despite mayor steinberg’s repeated public promises to come up with a comprehensive solution-orientated plan to address the issues facing the unhoused community, those of us serving the people are watching violent and what appears to be coordinated state-wide (through various reports) attacks on a high number of encampments. These illegal sweeps not only displace some of the…

We are all pretty much back in school at this point and despite so much talk in education circles of not returning to “business as usual”, it seems that is exactly what we are doing inside the school setting these days. From curriculum to classroom policy and procedures, white supremacy is rampant and still just as prevalent inside education now as it was before the pandemic.

Don’t get me wrong, I HATED zoom school; and I truly mean HATE. Zoom U had me ready to quit some days, but returning to campus like this feels damn near worse! Districts are…

As I reflect on what is the 1 year anniversary of Neighbor Program, it struck me to recall our history and as my elder Billy X constantly tells me “document it.” And so this is the story of what birthed Neighbor Program and the growth to date; although I cannot yet tell the end story I am sure with all faith in God and the Ancestors that there is so much more for us to do and our story is far from over.

To me, Neighbor Program started the day my father got his draft notice from the selective service…

You can’t fool all the people all of the time

But if you fool the right ones, then the rest will fall behind

Tell me who’s got control of your mind? your world view?

Is it the news or the movie you’re taking your girl to?

Know what I’m sayin’ cause Uncle Sam got a plan

If you examine what they tellin’ us then you will understand

What they plantin’ in the seeds of the next generation

Feeding our children miseducation

As Africans/New Afrikans inside the amerikkkan machine it is imperative that we have an international perspective and…

In a way, underdevelopment is a paradox. Many parts of the world that are naturally rich are actually poor and parts that are not so well off in wealth of soil and sun-soil are enjoying the highest standards of living. When the capitalists from the developed parts of the world try to explain this paradox, they often make it sound as though there is something “God-given” about the situation. One bourgeois economist, in a book on development, accepted that the comparative statistics of the world today show a gap that is much larger than it was before. By his own…

“What did we steal?” was the response from the sac pig department officer before he entered his patrol car to drive off with a captured African shackled in the backseat. I stood there shaking my head and gathering myself before walking away from what had become almost a two-hour ordeal; one that all too often I am a part of — a witness to the capture of an African. The area of the city I live and teach in was recently found to be one of the most segregated neighborhoods in Nisenan Land (Sacramento), and in the typical fashion of…

I have declared war on the rich who prosper on our poverty, the politicians who lie to us with smiling faces, and all the mindless, heartless, robots who protect them and their property.

Systemic. Institutional. Structural. These words are often thrown out as buzz words when folx speak about the “issues’’ society faces. These issues are more simply and logically defined as human rights violations. As a human, you have a right to life — that also means having a right to the resources needed to sustain life, if we were to follow that claim to its logical…

I stood there frozen

The bottom of my heart has just fell out

My eyes couldn’t leave the white mark on the pavement as I studied every word that left her mouth

The history of the block, the story of the people, the poetry of our pain

My eyes filled with tears for what could have been, for what our people still haven’t attained

All the tricks these crackas run — even our best neutralized

Pigs don’t even face consequences for when our people brutalized

We need some soldiers right now — a thousand New Afrikan brigade

All my street…
