Sorry Wale, I Can’t Root For Everyone Black: The Black Elite Won’t Save Us Part 2
Sorry Wale, as much as I love the song and the idea I simply cannot “root for everybody that’s Black.” Sorry y’all but I can’t. Maybe you haven’t heard the saying “all skin folx aint kin folx,” but I am a firm believer in that. I am sure that many of y’all love to quote Malcolm X and some of y’all may even walk around with an unread copy of his autobiography but for those of you have not studied the good brother let me share some of his words.
“There was two kinds of slaves. There was the house Negro and the field Negro…they [house negro] loved their master more than the master loved himself…He identified himself with his master more than his master identified with himself. And if you came to the house Negro and said, “Let’s run away, let’s escape, let’s separate,” the house Negro would look at you and say, “Man, you crazy. What you mean, separate? … He’ll pay three times as much as the house is worth just to live near his master, and then brag about ‘I’m the only Negro out here.’ ‘I’m the only one on my job.’ ‘I’m the only one in this school.’ You’re nothing but a house Negro. And if someone comes to you right now and says, ‘Let’s separate,’ you say the same thing that the house Negro said on the plantation. ‘What you mean, separate? From America? This good white man? Where you going to get a better job than you get here?’ I mean, this is what you say. ‘I ain’t left nothing in Africa,’ that’s what you say. Why, you left your mind in Africa…You’ve got field Negroes in America today. I’m a field Negro. The masses are the field Negroes.”

Malcolm told us in 1965 the differences between the field negro and the house negro and even gave us up to date examples. As a member of the masses of field negroes I simply cannot root for house negroes, these house negroes are traitors to all Africans and all Third World peoples. As I have said before The Black Elite Won’t Save Us. 2020 has given us episode after episode displaying the blatant disregard, disrespect, and demonization of the poor and oppressed, and the Black Elite have been some of the most consistent antagonists in this horror film. From celebrities to politicians, the Black Elite have proven time and time again they are performative in their actions; they are either unstudied or unabashedly anti-Black and it is time for us, the masses, to stop embracing their treasonous behavior.
What is Treason
Treason is “the crime of betraying one’s country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government.” We as Black people (read Africans) in amerikkka do not have a country and so we must understand our duty to fight for our freedom. With this understanding we must start to view those who oppose our freedom for what they are: war criminals. There is a systematic war being waged against Africans and Third World peoples and if anyone is willing to trade our lives for their comfort and financial gain, they can no longer be viewed as a member of our community and must be identified for what they are: the ops.
My President is Black?
For many people Barack Obama represents a time where life seemed so much better. No COVID, no Trump, no blah blah blah, yet the factors and policies that pushed so many to take to the street (and internet) this year were in place under Obama. Obama recently released his newest memoir in which he details how he tried to seduce women, how he bombed countries and even how much he was hurt that people were protesting a white supremacist in George Bush. “I felt quietly angry on his behalf. To protest a man in the final hour of his presidency seemed graceless and unnecessary” Obama wrote, almost seeming to completely neglect the fact that George Bush was a war criminal and white supremacist. It seems pretty necessary to protest a man who possibly stole an election, lied to the world in order to wage war across the entire Middle East (for personal gain I might add), and allowed roughly 500 Black people to die in Hurricane Katrina and just float in the standing water for DAYS upon days. It seems completely necessary to protest such evil, but how could Obama see how evil Bush was when they are in the same fraternity?
Barack Obama, Kamala Harris and the rest of these Black neo-liberal politicians have literally made their careers off the backs of Black people. Just in case you forgot this whole Black Lives Matter movement started during Obama’s time in office. Similarly the career of VP-elect Harris is rooted in her attacks of Black and other Third World peoples. Kamala Harris’ rise to power came through her upset of Hallinan in the San Francisco District Attorney race. Harris “carefully cultivated a base of support among police officers, domestic violence advocates, wealthy donors”; this doesn’t exactly sound like “Black Girl Magic” to me. Harris increased incarceration rates, ignored and hid evidence, and only was able to rise to national prominence through her willingness to go to war with Black and Third World peoples. I simply cannot root for someone who has shown their indiscretion in regards to the capture and murder of Africans in this country, not to mention all the war crimes she has co-signed in congress. The U.S. government is one of the most murderous and evil governments the modern world has seen, yet we should root for those who are accomplices to these evils because they look like us?
Black Celebrities
Whether it is Diddy, Wayne, Cube or John Legend; these Black celebrities let us down damn near every time they open their mouth. In the midst of Black folxs being asked to choose between two white supremacist tickets, the push to vote might have surpassed the propaganda wave that Obama was able to create. We had Black celebrities without any academic, theoretical, or practical background/work speaking for Black folxs. The contract with Black amerikkka, our Black Party, Ava telling us we deserve what we get if we don’t vote for Biden, John Legend telling people not to donate to local food banks because flipping the senate would be more impactful, Keke Palmer tweeting about how food stamps should only allow people to buy healthy food. All of these examples, not to mention all the ridiculous campaign events Black celebrities were involved in only were more proof that the Black Elite despise poor and working class Black, and Third World folxs.
So I am sorry Wale; I love your music, I even love the song but there is just simply no way I can root for everyone that’s Black, because some of us definitely aren’t working for our freedom. I want liberation not representation, so I cannot root for those of us who have choose to be a house negro in 2020.
